Stove Yard Cheshire is an authorised Esse Specialist Dealer and as such your new Ease Stove is guaranteed against defects arising from faulty manufacture for 2-Years provided it is installed and serviced by a recognised competent person (eg Hetas or OFTEC installer). The Esse Guarantee does not cover parts deemed to be 'consumables' or service parts replaced in the normal usage of the appliance (eg glass, rope seals, fire grates, fuel retainers and baffles etc). Subject to Esse's terms and conditions.
The British-made Esse 550 is one of three 5kW stoves in the Esse 500-series range and features understated industrial chic styling that ensures that it will work equally well in a contemporary or traditional setting in most small to medium sized rooms. Out of the three 500-series stoves this is, in our opinion, the best looking with its slightly taller legs making an obvious visual nod to Esse's flagship Ironheart range cooker. Of the three stoves the 550's proportions give you a taller (by some 90mm) and slimmer looking stove with an all-round reduced footprint of just 372mm wide by only 305 deep that are, overall, simply more elegant. Esse have also maximised the window area so that, considering it's compact width, you appear to get an appreciably bigger window aperture set on the minimal flat-fronted door with its concealed hinges and discrete handle.
Inside you've still got the same highly efficient Defra approved clean burning fire box (82.9% / A+) with it's preheated tertiary air and Esse's superior airwash system to keep the glass clear. There's two separate primary and secondary combustion air controls to maximise fuel economy and adjust the heat output for the perfect comfort level. There's also a handy two-position external grate riddler and importantly, a flue pressure test point, to ensure you have sufficient flue draught during commissioning the stove.
The Esse 550's fire chamber is big enough to take a standard 250mm (10") log and It can be installed on a 12mm decorative hearth. If you want to rear flue this stove then there's a space-saving rear flue box option which will still allow you to safely sweep the flue through the stove. The 5kW heat output means that for most pre-2008 homes no additional ventilation is required. As with all Esse stoves the build quality on the premium cast iron door and steel plate bodywork with its rear heat shield is excellent and carries a five-year manufacturer's warranty.
